Better Wrong than Frozen — but Be Wrong on the Right Thing

Let me tell you a story about a guy named Xenophon. He wasn’t born a warrior. He was a writer. A student of Socrates. I don’t know if he studied hard, but he had a pair of c0jones like Espartero’s horse. If you don’t believe me… keep reading. One day, Xenophon found himself stuck in Persia with 10,000 Greek mercenaries. Their generals were dead. Ambushed. Poisoned… yes, remember that there was no social media at the time. In summary… Gone. Everyone else? Panicking. Not Xenophon. He stood up and said something like this: “Better to do something now than sit here and die guessing.” More or less that. But now, imagine him saying this as “This is Esparta” in the movie 300. And, as the Greek like more appearing in movies than Trump typing in social media, Xenophon led the army across 1,500 km of hostile territory back to Greece. No map. No support. No food. Just guts and action. But here’s the part most people miss: He didn’t just move. He picked the right mountain to climb. He didn’t say “Let’s just run and see what happens” as he was Trump doing international policy. He said: “Let’s head north. Follow the rivers. Find allies. Avoid royal roads” as he was Trump doing real estate deals. That’s the difference between action and thrashing. We’ve all met people who sit frozen, endlessly optimizing a plan they’ll never execute. And others who “move fast”… toward a wall. What made Xenophon different? He moved fast. But in the right j0dida direction. That’s business. That’s investing. That’s life. Stop waiting for perfect. Start moving with intent. And pick your mountain. You don’t need Espartero’s horse’s balls, but probably a method and doing things with intend. I propose you some reading today.
