I’m going to tell you something that, if applied, can literally change your life. Look. These last 3 months I’ve been exploring a lot the real estate market in New Zealand. Apartments, cash flows, long term and short-term rentals… I’ve spent many hours. Every day. On top of that, I’m mentoring a few people, so that they could use real estate to build wealth and financial freedom. Until now, probably nothing new to you. During these mentorships, we passed together through certain deals. Another deal. Another. And another. And then, a few more. It’s normal. My recommendation is always to set a very, very, very narrow niche. Know the niche by heart. Visit as many deals as possible. And immediately, when something checks all the boxes, act decisively. Bang. That’s simple. In this case, I just received objections. Too big. Too small. Not ideal financing. Lots of renovation. A first floor. No A/C allowed by the body corp. No garage. Small windows. No views. One, after another. That’s called fear. Fear to leave the comfort zone. Fear to be free. Trust me. It’s that. No investment is perfect. Waiting for the perfect investment is like seeking the unicorn. You’ll die with the cash in your pocket. What I said to these people is the following: I don’t want to make it perfect, I want to make it now. Every journey starts with a single step, and you want to travel very far. And I showed them. I have a very narrow niche. Really, really narrow. 14 visits. 2 deals. Are they perfect? Of course not. But while others think forever, I’m making progress. I can get it wrong and lose money, but I’ll learn in my way what nobody waiting will ever learn. I’ll gain confidence. I’ll become better and better. I’m here for the long run. The question to you now is… what are you here for? Do you want to learn something new today, for example? Before answering that question whose answer may change the way you see life, let me tell you something. Today is settlement day for me. Another deal. Aristotle once said this: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”. I like deals. I do deals. I become a deal maker. With more deals, I’m becoming a better deal maker. This thing that may seem simple or easy to you is less usual than you think. Excellence is achieved by repetition, and improving through each...
Do you believe that Amazon could be built by Jeff Bezos doing 15$/hour tasks? I have this debate very often with entrepreneurs from all sorts of backgrounds. They believe that they need to do everything by themselves. If you want a business not to grow, or you want your business to get stuck or simply your health going to hell… do all by yourself. Schedule meetings, take minutes, actions, do follow ups, check the receipts, upload this into the accounting tool, etc. etc. etc. All by yourself....
I like saying “be gentle with yourself”. I see too many people being the worst critics of themselves. Never enough. Never done well. More, and more, and more. Don’t take me wrong. I’m a fun of self-motivation. I’m all-in in improving myself, in challenging myself. But how you do it matters. The words we speak have a direct and definite effect upon our thoughts. Thoughts create words, for words are the vehicles of ideas. Words also affect thoughts and help to condition if not to create...
