When I assess how most professionals and entrepreneurs manage their time, I see the same mistake on repeat. They treat every task as equally important and/or equally urgent. So, they get bogged down with massive to-do lists, where responding to administrative emails assumes the same importance as servicing top clients. Stress is high. Burn-out massive. Effectiveness low. Results inexistent. Your tasks shouldn’t all carry equal weight. And some of the tasks on your list may not deserve any of your time at all. I know that it’s hard, but… that’s life. There is a 2x2 Decision Framework. It’s a practical way to keep your sanity intact so you can focus on your most important work. This framework forces every task on your list into one of four categories: 1. Do Now: High urgency, high importance I see many people gamifying tasks, feeling good about writing down another tick, done. But then, they get frustrated because they don’t see results. Your time and energy are your most precious assets. Wasting your time ticking boxes for a momentary reward of dopamine is not going to bring you closer to your objectives. Sticking to what’s important is. It’s hard. It works. You’ll thank me for that. So, next time that you have your inbox full of messages where you are CC… think of which quadrant that task is… Then, press DELETE. If learning new things, progressing into your personal growth through mentors and coaches is a priority for you, you can SCHEDULE below.

And without that approval, the dark accountant at the agency did not even know he had to make an important payment. Without the payment, the SPV would not have enough cash to meet its obligations. Yes… pay your debt is really important in these cases. So, a billion dollar project was suddenly exposed to an insolvency risk because one person went on holiday. Fortunately, we had...
After financial close, everyone wants to get moving. Mobilisation plans. Design programmes. Construction schedules. Reporting templates. Hundreds of meetings. And a few parties. But there is one document I would want agreed before almost anything else. The Crisis Management Plan. And I mean agreed. Not another document that’s written for the sake of it and forgotten in a drawer for the duration of the project and that only sees the light in the annual quality audit… No. But something like a...
This anecdote is so good that I couldn’t resist. Apparently, a Brazilian steakhouse once took the US Government to court. It wanted to bring Brazilian chefs into the country because they knew how to prepare meat in a very particular way. They had not learned it at university. They had learned it growing up. At home. From their families. Inside their communities. Just as Spanish people learn how to appreciate the good jamón ibérico… Well… US immigration said that was culture. Not “specialised...
