If you receive emails in CC, do this

When I assess how most professionals and entrepreneurs manage their time, I see the same mistake on repeat.

They treat every task as equally important and/or equally urgent.

So, they get bogged down with massive to-do lists, where responding to administrative emails assumes the same importance as servicing top clients.

Stress is high.

Burn-out massive.

Effectiveness low.

Results inexistent.

Your tasks shouldn’t all carry equal weight.

And some of the tasks on your list may not deserve any of your time at all.

I know that it’s hard, but… that’s life.

There is a 2x2 Decision Framework.

It’s a practical way to keep your sanity intact so you can focus on your most important work.

This framework forces every task on your list into one of four categories:

1. Do Now: High urgency, high importance
2. Schedule: Low urgency, high importance
3. Delegate: High urgency, low importance
4. Delete: Low urgency, low importance

I see many people gamifying tasks, feeling good about writing down another tick, done. But then, they get frustrated because they don’t see results.

Your time and energy are your most precious assets.

Wasting your time ticking boxes for a momentary reward of dopamine is not going to bring you closer to your objectives.

Sticking to what’s important is.

It’s hard. It works.

You’ll thank me for that.

So, next time that you have your inbox full of messages where you are CC… think of which quadrant that task is… Then, press DELETE.

Just in a rush as I’m taking a plane. You’ve been reading my emails for weeks. Learning, nodding, agreeing… But nothing changes just by knowing. You can blame the market. You can blame your company. You can blame your boss or the government or the crisis. Or you can accept a fact: Winners move when others freeze. You want better projects? Better money? Recognition? A pat in the back? Then you must become the person who gets those things. You know what I’m offering. Not soft coaching, but...

A client of mine was angry. Very angry. An obstinate and incompetent operator. A client that did not understand what a PPP was or how risks work. Claims. Lots of letters. Even more frustration. It’s hard to work in that environment. But it’s almost the day to day of many projects. People not understanding each other. Not because some are incompetent and have nothing to do but heating and protecting their chairs… that happens sometimes… but because nobody is trying to understand the other...

Yesterday a subscriber told me that writing every day was too much. Too much pressure. I answered back as Grant Cardone would do. “Sir, you’re confusing my belief and passion in knowing this is the right product for you and your company with pressure. Please don’t misinterpret my enthusiasm for pressure. Now, let’s do this”. To all people with passion. To all people that love to deliver better infrastructure. This is for you. The top 15 Lessons of a successful project The top 15 lessons of a...
