My brother and my sister call me: Bison. I like to believe that it’s not because of the Russian Street Fighter character, but the animal. Bison are the only animals that walk toward storms instead of fleeing from them. In the midst of a storm, when everything seems chaotic, bison make a surprising decision: they move directly toward it. They don’t do this out of recklessness. No. They instinctively know that by walking into the storm, they’ll spend less time under its effects and emerge on the other side sooner. Often, our personal "storms"—those challenges that seem insurmountable—tempt us to run away or delay facing them. No business… too complicated… I’ll have to deal with employees or get sued. No promotions… I’ll be told “No”. No investment… I’ll lose money And so on… But what if we acted like bison? It’s not just about getting through the storm… No. It’s about what we learn by facing it. It’s about the strength we discover within ourselves. It’s about the stories we gain to share. Every storm has taught me something and has toughened my skin more than I ever imagined when I was younger. The next time life tests you, ask yourself: Am I willing to move toward the storm? Remember, in every difficult moment, there’s a chance for personal discovery. If you want to know more about yourself, click below.

I’m an engineer. By accident. But an engineer nevertheless. I’ve seen landslides during construction, and after construction. Specifications not converting properly between inches and cm. Expansion joints popping up in summer like popcorn. Pavement failing in the first winter after opening. Subcontractors going broke. Or bought by the competition you stole the project from… But still… 80% of serious PPP failures are NOT technical… They are contractual. Risk allocation errors Toxic KPI regimes...
You know I’m no fan of the World Bank. But from time to time, curiosity opens some doors. This is what I found. More than 50% of PPPs are renegotiated… Let that sink in. 50%. And usually in favor of the private sector... 50–60% of PPP contracts in developed countriesand up to 70% in emerging marketsare renegotiated within the first 5–7 years. So the contract you sign is not the contract you live with. What does it mean? Simple… It means the real risk allocationis not the one approved by...

He...
